Wednesday evenings from 6:30-7:30 pm Community Covenant Church provides a Homework Help Club (HHC). Students kindergarten thru 6th grade who need a little extra help to succeed in school are paired with a qualified volunteer adult who helps them complete homework as well as work on basic skills like reading, math and spelling.

Stacey Shortall, the corporate lawyer behind the initiative, says her goal is to make a Homework HELP Club available to every decile one primary school in New Zealand.“Homework HELP Club brings business and school communities closer together to support our kids to learn – and learn more about each other at the same time.On Wednesday, Shortall addressed a number of business people in Wellington and told them of her plans to expand the Homework HELP Club nationally and asked for their help in doing so. She will do the same in Auckland, on March 30.Chris Theobald, principal of Holy Family School, also spoke about how Homework HELP Club provides great support to families and enables kids to meet people from different walks of life.Establishing a Homework HELP Club is an opportunity to provide different role models for talented hard-working Kiwi kids. And to encourage those kids to dream big for their futures. Homework HELP Club brings business and school communities closer together to support our kids to learn – and learn more about each other at the same time.It’s always good to have a jump start in life, especially in a child’s formative years. That’s why we offer a ‘no cost’ Homework Help Club to assist 1st through 5th grade students who may be at risk of falling behind. Through our daily tutoring, children get a better start in school that leads to a better future for all involved.Strategies for Learning is also launching Homework Help Club at schools in the Oakland/Berkeley area. Strategies for Learning will coordinate with your school to provide on-campus support for students. If you are interested in having trained clinicians work with your child in a fun and supportive environment, among their peers, please contact , Clinic Coordinator.Be it language barriers or lack of resources or other learning challenges, children throughout our community struggle with their studies and often need special assistance with their homework, particularly reading and math, to keep from falling behind.
